Winery................This is where the action is during the Winter. Keeping the barrels topped up and testing the wine. Not really very exciting... at all! Here is George trying to figure out what goes in the barrels. Lots of things, but none of it visible. As the old winemakers say, “a watched barrel never ages!”

Vineyard............George is starting to get the hang of pruning. What we do at Green Family Winery is called “Cane pruning”. It is hard and slow, but it gives you greater control of crop levels from year to year. It looks pretty bare in the vineyard after pruning, but this is where the wine making process really starts. This is where you set crop levels and even placement of the fruit. The decisions made at this time will show up in the wine three to four years from now.
